17 Events won by Nittany Lions at Penn state track and field Bucknell Team challenge

On Saturday at Bucknell Team Challenge, Nittany Lions men’s and women’s track and field team won 17 events at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium.
Junior Marlene Ricketts (Westbury, N.Y) got two victories in the long and triple jumps. His gold medal performance includes 18-9.75 (5.73) and 41-9.25 (12.73) in the Long and triple jumps respectively.

Penn state Women’s Team beat host Bucknell with the points 228 where the Bucknell team got 128 points only.

The Interesting things in hammer throw is Junior Redshirt William barr (Urbana, Ohio) got his carrier-best 207-10 (63.35) to place 2nd in the hammer throw which is the 2nd wonderful throw in Penn State history.

Senior Nabil Mubarak got another record in short put. He got 1st place for his best effort of 55-7.50.
The lions played well over the game which includes victories from Jane Sweson in the women’s Shot Put and Melissa Kurzdorfer in the Women’s hammer.

Rachel Fatherly who played well throughout the day by managing Runner-up in the shot put, discus throws and Hammer.

In Women’s javelin laura Loht got top place by her best effort of 155-9 (47.47).

Olympic high jump gold medallist Tia Hellebaut has declare her retirement from athletics. The Belgian, who won gold in 2008 at Beijing, battle for the final time at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, concluding eighth, she said: “When I look back on what I have accomplish, I think the only right choice to make now is finally to quit.”

Jenny Meadows will lead GB&NI team for European Indoor championships

European 800m winner Jenny Meadows will head of Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for next month’s European Indoor Championships in Sweden. Meadows, ended her competitive return last weekend at the British Athletics Birmingham Grand Prix, after omitted the 2012 period through injury. “It’s a great honour to be named captain,” said Meadows.

Meadows won gold at the 2011 European Indoor Championships in Paris, having originally completed second but had her medal upgraded following the disqualification of Yevgeniya Zinurova. “I’m really excited to be given the chance to follow Helen Clitheroe, who did such a sparkling job in Paris two years ago.” She said.

Jess Coulson was the top of Great Britain and Northern Ireland team at the European Cross Country challenge as she claimed women’s under-23 gold in Budapest. Athletics: UK Sport introduces three year elite coaching program

UK Sport has make public a new three-year best coaching programme that will help carry up to 12 people in the run-up to the Rio Olympics in 2016. The £20,000 per person, per year scheme aims to turn those chosen into prospect leaders in their disciplines. “Our plan is to take British coaching from world class to world leading,” said Graham Taylor.

In spite of GB’s third place in the London 2012 award table, an information flagged training as an area for step up. The new money will pay the development costs for those chosen, with their earnings still being provided by each individual sport’s national governing body. In addition, a move to notably increase support of elite coaching for the next cycle will be measured by board in December.

Athletics : Jessica Ennis wins Sportswoman of the year award

Heptathlon winner Jessica Ennis has won the Sportswoman of the Year Award. The 26-year-old set three individual bests and a British record of 6,995 points on her approach to gold in London. British athlete Mo Farah targets Rio Olympic 10,000m
