Six-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt wins 100m at Cayman Invitational track meet

World’s fastest man Jamaica’s Usain Bolt is famous for his fast running performance and he won 6 Olympic gold medals by his incredible speed. On Wednesday this amazing athlete wins 100m at Cayman Invitational track meet with a photo finish win over his teammate Kemar Bailey-Cole. Bolt reached the destination with a less than 10.09 seconds and Kemar Bailey-Cole reached at the same time who is Usain’s team partner.

Bolt has been suffering from hamstring problem and he said that “It was just a bad race,” “I just have to go back and figure out with my coach what went wrong”.

“I felt it (hamstring injury) slightly. It wasn’t a bothering pain so I can’t blame it on that.”

Melbourne long jump contest: Rutherford beat Mitchell Watt

Olympic long jump winner Greg Rutherford beat London silver medallist Mitchell Watt succeeds at the IAAF Melbourne World Challenge. He handles 8.10m in the fourth round to conclude ahead of the Australian’s 8.01m. “An 8.10m isn’t anything particularly special,” said the 26-year-old Briton. “But we are in the early part of the year and waking up this morning I didn’t look ahead to be able to jump that well so early.”

Japhet Korir beat Merga at world cross country championships

Japhet Korir from Kenya commanding finish saw him beat Ethiopia’s defending champion Imane Merga to protect the world cross country title in Poland. Korir, who ended sixth in his national trials, motorized away to win in 32 minutes 45 seconds with Eritrea’s Teklemariam Medhin third. Another Kenyan, Emily Chebet, won the women’s race, concluding ahead of Ethiopia’s Hiwot Ayalew to take gold.

Great Britain’s junior women won team bronze behind Kenya and Ethiopia. Their success is Britain’s first award in any group at the event since 2004. Emelia Gorecka, the 2011 European Cross Country Championships winner, was the first European athlete home as she protected 16th position in a time of 19:19. Team-mates Georgia Taylor-Brown, Amy Eloise, Neale finished 17 th, 21 st, 27th respectively.

Jessica Ennis wins sportswoman of the year award

Jessica Ennis has been named World Sportswoman of the Year at the Laureus Awards. She combats for Olympic heptathlon gold in London last summer. High jump gold medallist Hellebaut retires from athletics

Olympic high jump gold medallist Tia Hellebaut has declare her retirement from athletics. The Belgian, who won gold in 2008 at Beijing, battle for the final time at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, concluding eighth, she said: “When I look back on what I have accomplish, I think the only right choice to make now is finally to quit.”

Hellebaut completed fifth in the 2012 Olympics in London. She won the world indoor pentathlon in 2008 and had originally retired that year when she was pregnant, but come back to the sport in 2010. She took an additional break to have a second child the following year.

Athletics – Bolt finished third in 400m Running

Jamaican Olympic sprint winner Usain Bolt was beaten in his first race of the 2013 spell, concluding third in a low-key 400 metre occasion in his hometown of Kingston. The triple gold medallist from both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics without difficulty won his heat in 46.71 seconds at the Camper down Classic.

British Athletics: Dwain Chambers wins at Glasgow

Britain’s Dwain Chambers started his planning for the European Indoor Championships with success in the 60m at the Glasgow International. The 34-year-old ran 6.58 seconds – the second-fastest time in the world this year to beat Kim Collins of St Kitts & Nevis and American Mike Rodgers. World 400m hurdles champ Dai Greene got the better of 800m expert Andrew Osagie over 600m.

New Year Honours list: Athletic Stars of London 2012 recognised

Leading Sports persons of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games have been recognised in the New Year Honours catalog. Double Olympic winner Mo Farah, in addition heptathlete Jessica Ennis, rower Katherine Grainger and cyclist Victoria Pendleton have each been made a CBE. They all won gold in London.

Paralympic athlete David Weir, who wins four gold medals at the 2012 Paralympics, becomes a CBE. GB cycling show director Dave Brailsford and rowing Chief David Tanner also receive knighthoods. Athletics : Coulson wins at European Challenge

Jess Coulson was the top of Great Britain and Northern Ireland team at the European Cross Country challenge as she claimed women’s under-23 gold in Budapest. It was a winning trip to Hungary for the team who came away with two gold, three silver and five bronze medals for a fourth clean sweeps in five years.

But there was no hesitation that the star of the show was as Coulson claimed the only individual gold for the team, effectively defending the title Emma Pallant claimed 12 months ago. It was a leading show for Coulson as she maintains victory by over 50 metres, crossing the line in 20:40 minutes. Coulson left her charge late, making a move on the second to last lap to leave the chasing set trailing behind, and she admits she felt at easiness in the cold Budapest weather.

Long Jumper Rutherford wins sports personality of the year award

“Olympic long jump gold medallist from Britain Greg Rutherford has been the victor of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year for the East of England. The 26-year-old battle off associate Olympic champions Victoria Pendelton, Etienne Stott and Ben Maher. “We were very fortunate to have multiple gold medal winners in this region and that made it much tougher,” he told.

“”I was taken aback by it. It’s completely lovely to win this.” The joint British record holder lit up the Olympic Stadium this summer on what turn out to be known as good day, an evening when he, Jessica Ennis and Mo Farah all claimed athletics gold for GB. Speaking at the awards, held at the University of Bedfordshire, he added: “I came here thinking ‘I haven’t got an opportunity with Victoria Pendelton and Etienne in there, but it will be a nice evening’.
