Six-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt wins 100m at Cayman Invitational track meet

World’s fastest man Jamaica’s Usain Bolt is famous for his fast running performance and he won 6 Olympic gold medals by his incredible speed. On Wednesday this amazing athlete wins 100m at Cayman Invitational track meet with a photo finish win over his teammate Kemar Bailey-Cole. Bolt reached the destination with a less than 10.09 seconds and Kemar Bailey-Cole reached at the same time who is Usain’s team partner.

Antiguan Daniel got third place with a finish time of 10.23 seconds.

Bolt has been suffering from hamstring problem and he said that “It was just a bad race,” “I just have to go back and figure out with my coach what went wrong”.

“I felt it (hamstring injury) slightly. It wasn’t a bothering pain so I can’t blame it on that.”

Melbourne long jump contest: Rutherford beat Mitchell Watt

Olympic long jump winner Greg Rutherford beat London silver medallist Mitchell Watt succeeds at the IAAF Melbourne World Challenge. He handles 8.10m in the fourth round to conclude ahead of the Australian’s 8.01m. “An 8.10m isn’t anything particularly special,” said the 26-year-old Briton. “But we are in the early part of the year and waking up this morning I didn’t look ahead to be able to jump that well so early.”

Athletics: Perri Shakes targets 400m hurdles Competition

Japhet Korir beat Merga at world cross country championships

Japhet Korir from Kenya commanding finish saw him beat Ethiopia’s defending champion Imane Merga to protect the world cross country title in Poland. Korir, who ended sixth in his national trials, motorized away to win in 32 minutes 45 seconds with Eritrea’s Teklemariam Medhin third. Another Kenyan, Emily Chebet, won the women’s race, concluding ahead of Ethiopia’s Hiwot Ayalew to take gold.

Great Britain’s junior women won team bronze behind Kenya and Ethiopia. Their success is Britain’s first award in any group at the event since 2004. Emelia Gorecka, the 2011 European Cross Country Championships winner, was the first European athlete home as she protected 16th position in a time of 19:19. Team-mates Georgia Taylor-Brown, Amy Eloise, Neale finished 17 th, 21 st, 27th respectively.

Jessica Ennis wins sportswoman of the year award

High jump gold medallist Hellebaut retires from athletics

Olympic high jump gold medallist Tia Hellebaut has declare her retirement from athletics. The Belgian, who won gold in 2008 at Beijing, battle for the final time at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, concluding eighth, she said: “When I look back on what I have accomplish, I think the only right choice to make now is finally to quit.”

European Indoor Championships – Winning start for Bleasdale

Pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale succeeds at Britain’s initial gold medal of the European Indoor Championships with a charming height of 4.67m. The 21-year-old beat Poland’s Anna Rogowska in a jump-off after both athletes unsuccessful to clear 4.72m. “We could either take the gold together or keep on jumping and I wanted to keep on jumping,” she told. “I’m so happy to be the gold medallist.”

James Dasaolu earned successful silver in the 60m behind France’s Jimmy Vicaut. “I recognize it was going to be hard being against the Italian and French guys,” Dasaolu told. “I’ve not watched the race back but I don’t think I had the best of reactions. I’m happy with my first superior medal. I didn’t expect to run 6.48 seconds. It was tough out there. I just hope this is going to help my 100m time, more than anything else.”

Orleans half-marathon: Athlete Mo Farah sets new record

Britain’s Mo Farah edged away Ethiopian Gebre Gebremariam in a spectacular finish to succeed at the New Orleans half-marathon in a latest national record. The pair left the rest of the ground trailing, but it was Farah who clutches the glory as a sprint end gave him triumph in 61 minutes. “I was really pushing it,” said Farah.

Jenny Meadows will lead GB&NI team for European Indoor championships

European 800m winner Jenny Meadows will head of Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for next month’s European Indoor Championships in Sweden. Meadows, ended her competitive return last weekend at the British Athletics Birmingham Grand Prix, after omitted the 2012 period through injury. “It’s a great honour to be named captain,” said Meadows.

The contests take place in Gothenburg from 1-3 March. Meadows won gold at the 2011 European Indoor Championships in Paris, having originally completed second but had her medal upgraded following the disqualification of Yevgeniya Zinurova. “I’m really excited to be given the chance to follow Helen Clitheroe, who did such a sparkling job in Paris two years ago.” She said.

Runner Kipsang confident ahead of Kenya Marathon on April

Wilson Kipsang London Marathon winner of 2012 and Olympic bronze medallist believes the world record could fall when one of the strongest fields ever bring jointly line up in London in April. The Kenyan will take on Uganda’s shock Olympic winner Stephen Kiprotich, world champion Abel Kirui, fellow Kenyan and Berlin marathon champ Geoffrey Mutai and three-time London victor Martin Lel.

“It’s a very physically powerful field with about 10 guys who have run sub 2:05:15. So if they can run freely in a way where there is no panic one another, I think the record is very possible,” Kipsang told small town 2,400 metres above sea stage in western Kenya’s Rift Valley. Kipsang fail to spot the London course record by four seconds when winning last year’s race and his marathon best of 2:03.42, set in 2011 in Frankfurt, is four seconds short of Patrick Makau’s world record.
