While you are shopping for soccer balls, you are sure to be amazed seeing not only the variety of balls but a huge variation in prices. People tend to go for a cheap ball without considering other important factors. However that is not the best thing to do if you want to get a soccer ball in finest quality. Several factors needed to be considered and price should be the last factor to be considered.
Size of the ball
For young players size three soccer balls would be perfect. Pre teens need a size four and teens and adults need a size five. But the ball size would vary with different leagues. Make sure that you practice with the same size as you need to get used to the way the ball play off your foot.
Type of the ball
There are indoor and outdoor balls which are specifically made for conditions of indoor soccer and other types. Select a ball that would suit the normal practice and playing conditions.
Material of the ball
If you are looking for cheap balls, then rubber balls are best choice. But they are never used in league play. Any practice using rubber soccer ball would not be fruitful during the game. PVC balls are little more expensive and give a better feel but it would have a plastic touch. A more expensive option would be the leather balls. However they tend to absorb water and turn heavy. Hence most leagues use moderately priced polyurethane ball made of a synthetic material that is similar to rubber but more durable and water resistant.
Bladder of the ball
Bladder means the inside part of the ball that gives the shape and movement to the ball. In cheaper balls butyl bladders are used. Later bladders are used in high quality balls as they give the best play. However they lose air more quickly and needed to be inflated more often.
Weight of the ball
Lighter balls are generally preferred as a heavy weighed ball would be tough to kick and lose momentum quickly.
Brand of the ball
You must go for a brand that suits your tastes and needs. Try different brands and see which would suit you the best. You must also consider the price variation within the same brand. At Track and field gear, you would get a variety of brands and varieties to select the best soccer ball of your needs.
